Owned by business partners of The Bonta Group, Serena Lim and Chef Luca Pezzera, this casual dining establishment is spread over 6,000 sq ft, consisting both indoor and outdoor dining options. The spacious and open concept decor at District 10 evokes an inviting and casual feel. Timber wood flooring marks the al fresco area, blending harmoniously with the surrounding garden ambience.
With the aim of embracing nature as part of its design appeal, the owners have cleverly leverage on the natural features to create unique centrepieces. Indoors, a six-metre long tree trunk is transformed into a bar top table. At the alfresco area, an octagonal standalone bar is built around a 50 years old Pong Pong tree, encompassing a water feature.
"Nature is often compelled to accommodate to civilization, but we wanted to preserve the natural setting by working around it and at the same time to characterise District 10," says Serena. "District 10's bistro concept complements the serene garden ambience here. Coupled with excellent food and wines, it is the perfect place to chill out after work and on weekends," she adds.
The extensive a la carte menu specially created by Chef Luca features international favourites such as the ever popular Italian thin-crust pizza with an extensive variety of toppings, French-style Crispy Duck Confit with sweet and sour onion, accompanied with sauteed rosemary potatoes and the all-time American Oven-Baked Rosemary Baby Back Ribs served with roasted garlic and fries. The all day dining menu also features a wide selection of cakes, desserts and homemade ice creams that will appeal to high-tea goers, PMEBs working in the vicinity and waiting parents of students from the nearby Anglo Chinese Junior School.
The bistro also carries a comprehensive beverage list of self-imported wines, and beers by the bottle and by the draught. To encourage the European culture of pairing wines with casual dining, a five-tiered wine pricing system with a reasonable price range of S$39, S$49, S$59, S$79 and S$99 for a bottle of wine.
"We import our wines directly from the boutique wineries and that allows us to offer quality varieties at affordable prices, of which some brands are not available anywhere else in Singapore. The five-tiered pricing system with an open cellar concept makes it easy for our customers to make their wine selection. Instead of looking through complicated wine lists, customers can take their pick from the open cellar directly," explains Serena.
